“The Death of Ocean View Park (2025)”

The final piece I made at SAIC as part of my senior printmaking studio.

This piece combined imagery of the controlled demolition of the Rocket roller coaster at Ocean View Amusement Park in Norfolk, VA with personal imagery. I used this piece to process changes in my personal life and a transitional period in my artistic journey.

“How to Save an Amusement Park”

This piece serves as an abstract documentation of the final season at Six Flags America in Maryland, an amusement park that closed permanently at the end of the 2025 season.

Six Flags America had a poor reputation among regional theme parks in the US. The goal of this piece, which I achieved (at least in my own mind) was to find the value of this park, and to really understand that everywhere means something to someone.

“The Friendly Beasts”

In this work, I processed the role that modern American Christianity played in my early childhood - especially the way that my family used concepts of Christianity to explain difficult aspects of life, such as death, despite my family not being devoted followers of the religion.

“What if We Kissed on the Garfield Boat Ride”

Once again combining imagery of my personal life with imagery of a defunct theme park attraction, this piece was used to process a summer I spent sick with a long-term illness. During this time, I had a bizarre obsession with the defunct boat ride Garfield’s Nightmare at Kennywood Amusement Park in Pennsylvania.
